Latest Update: Staff Selection Commission released the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026 notification on 10 September 2026. Educational Qualification
For Delhi Police SI and CAPF SI (GD), candidates generally require a Bachelor's Degree from a recognised University or equivalent. Candidates awaiting the qualifying result must satisfy the qualification by the cut-off specified in the notification.
Important for Delhi Police male candidates: a valid driving licence for LMV (motorcycle and car) is required by the stage prescribed in the notice. Candidates without the required licence may not be eligible for the Delhi Police male SI post even if they otherwise qualify.
CISF SI (Fire): this is a specialised fire post and has separate educational/technical conditions in the 2026 notice. Candidates interested in the Fire vacancies should match their Science/technical qualification exactly with the official notification instead of assuming that an ordinary Bachelor's Degree automatically covers this post.
Age Limit
For Delhi Police SI and most CAPF SI posts, the age limit is 20–25 years as on 1 August 2026. The CISF SI (Fire) post has a different notified age framework, currently reported as 18–30 years. SC/ST, OBC and other eligible categories receive relaxation under Central Government/SSC rules.
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹100. Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST and eligible Ex-Servicemen categories are exempt according to SSC rules. The last date for online fee payment is 1 October 2026, 11:00 PM.
Correction Window
SSC has provided an application correction window from 8 October to 10 October 2026, up to 11:00 PM. Correction charges and permitted fields are governed by the notification. Candidates should still enter all details correctly in the original application.
Pay Scale
Sub-Inspector posts are generally placed in Pay Level-6, ₹35,400–₹1,12,400, subject to the exact post/service conditions. Actual in-hand salary depends on posting, allowances, deductions and applicable service rules.
Selection Process
Selection includes SSC's computer-based written examination stages, Physical Standard Test/Physical Endurance Test (PST/PET), medical examination and document verification as prescribed. The 2026 notification should be used for the current Paper-I/Paper-II structure, marking scheme and physical standards because candidates should not rely on an older CPO pattern.
Physical Preparation
Height, chest requirements where applicable, running, long jump, high jump and other physical standards differ by gender/post/category.
