Michelle Bachelet, former President of Chile and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, received the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for 2024.

About the Prize | पुरस्कार के बारे में
The award was instituted in 1986 by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust in memory of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It recognises contributions in areas such as international peace, disarmament, development, international cooperation, freedom and wider human welfare.
इस पुरस्कार की स्थापना वर्ष 1986 में इंदिरा गांधी स्मारक न्यास द्वारा पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री इंदिरा गांधी की स्मृति में की गई। यह अंतरराष्ट्रीय शांति, निरस्त्रीकरण, विकास, अंतरराष्ट्रीय सहयोग, स्वतंत्रता और व्यापक मानव कल्याण जैसे क्षेत्रों में योगदान को मान्यता देता है।

The award is not restricted to individuals. Both persons and organisations can be selected, without distinction based on nationality, race or religion, according to the award framework.

The prize carries a monetary award of ₹25 lakh along with a citation.
